Christina is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate working under the supervision of Dr. Erika Johnson. She works with children and adults, from ages 7 and up, specializing in work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Christina strives to create therapeutic relationships imbued with understanding, respect, compassion, and levity. Understanding that life challenges can get in the way of healing and growth, she strives to highlight her clients' innate (and sometimes hidden) strengths to help them overcome both external challenges and internal wounds and weaknesses. While she often offers fresh perspectives, she always defers to her clients as experts on their own lives, and respects their readiness when delving into more sensitive topics.
Christina's therapeutic approach weaves person-centered, existential, and cognitive-behavior therapy modalities. She helps clients work through boundary-setting, life-stage transitions, difficult emotions, burnout, perfectionism, identity issues, spiritual/religious difficulties, and other concerns. Trained in the Gottman Method and certified in SYMBIS, Christina is equipped to take a directive approach with couples, helping them turn towards each other with compassion for wounds and weaknesses, accountability for shortcomings, and hope for building a relationship full of vibrancy, connection, and meaning. She helps families understand their communication patterns and create new dynamics that honor individuality, prize connectedness, and strengthen family identity. With 15+ years’ experience as a middle- and high-school math tutor, she knows how to build productive relationships with unmotivated and disengaged teens, while helping balance parent and peer relationships. She is also trained in Expressive Arts Therapy, with which she guides clients through accessing and expressing repressed thoughts and emotions. Finally, for clients seeking faith-integrated counseling, Christina pursues an in-depth understanding of their worldview and how they desire its application in their lives.
Christina completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University in 2020, obtaining a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Linguistics.
She earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University in 2026, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy."
