Shannon Hunt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado Springs, CO. Shannon believes that the counselor’s role is to provide a safe space for clients, encouraging and offering feedback to help improve daily functioning, make connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and be a support to assist clients in achieving their goals.

Shannon views her work from a systemic approach, considering how larger systems (systemic and anti-Black racism, queer and trans-antagonistic ideologies and policies, etc.) interact with and effect the client.

Shannon also uses a strength-based lens in her work, helping to identify and build upon resiliency and strengths that the client already possesses. She believes in providing an open and non-judgmental space that allows the client to feel safe in telling and exploring their story.

Shannon uses a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, and Person-Centered Counseling. Shannon also focuses on mindfulness and grounding techniques, particularly with children and adolescents struggling with emotional regulation.
